Two days in a row??

Two days in a row on here?  What is this?  Well, I haven't really had anyone to talk to lately, so I'm afraid you're stuck with me for now Mr. Blog.

Soon, I hope to be embarking on a weight loss journey.  I know someone who has had kick ass results with a line a products (in a addition to eating right and all that jazz).  And though I don't expect to get her results at all (I'm being honest, I'm just too lazy) something is better than nothing.  I tried this earlier in the year and I started out well but fizzled out....I have no excuse...other than I just lost interest, I guess.  I was hoping to moving to California the "active lifestyle" stereotype would rub off on me, and I'd lose some poundage.  While people here are overall pretty active (and I hope to try to do more stuff when I have time/energy again) something I didn't take into account were all the scrumdiddlyumptious restaurants the bay area as to offer....daaamn you!  (Which is also not a good motivator for trying to cook more!) So, I think it goes without saying, no poundage has been lost since I moved here...I may have even gained a pound or two.  **gasp!**  (Seriously, though, it's only been a few pounds...most my gain was while in school in good ol' B-lo)

I'm hoping to take it more serious this time. That's why I'm writing something on here.  Hopefully people knowing that I'm making an effort will make me want to hold more accountability.  We'll see if my super duper clever ploy works or just backfires.

I'm saying this'll start soon and not tomorrow because I need to try and de-fat-ass-ify my kitchen a little bit and that probably won't happen until this weekend.

Here's to hoping I stick with it and get some results...and if I fail...well, obviously it won't be the first time.

Oh yeah, and if anybody has any good, easy, non fat ass recipes I'm all ears!

09 July, 2012

I'm a little bored. So...

Wow, I think I've broken a new record for neglecting this thing.

And random thoughts -

  • There hasn't really much going on other than the new job and recovering on the weekends.
    • These past couple months have reminded me that saying you know a situation will be crappy, but you can handle it because it'll only be temporary, and actually doing it are two completely different things.  Having to be on the road for 3-4 hours everyday in stop and go traffic has been very, very trying.  But I knew I was going to have to deal with this when I took the job, so I shall just have to continue to suck it up until I can move closer.  Boo freaking hoo, I know.
    • Mom came for a short visit in June.  I unfortunately I wasn't much company for the above mentioned reasons.  Hopefully next time it'll be a little more exciting.
    • I understand UCSF is a big name in medicine and it's great to take pride in where you work, but the way some (big note: not all) people around there talk you'd think it was the end all be all of anything medical.  If I ever start looking down on other places or techniques simply because it's not UCSF, or the way it's done there, I give you permission to punch me in the throat...several times.
    • I feel really bad for Kenai.  These have been really long days for him, but I must say he's been a trouper with it all.  He's had a couple accidents (you try holding it for 12 or 13 hours!) and I probably won't be getting my pet deposit back. I can't make myself get make at him though because for the most part he's done much better than I expected!
  • Speaking of Kenai, he turned two last month!  And, though, I can say he has "matured" since I brought him home...a little...he still keeps things interesting around here.
Big yawn.  It ain't easy being Kenai.
  • Is 29 too young for a midlife crisis?
    • Sometimes, I finally feel excited for the future.  I live in a good area.  As I heard somebody else say when talking about the bay area: I live where other people vacation.  I seem to have finally found someone I "click" with.  I have a decent job that helps a lot of people at a top tier hospital (ooooooh, yes, I'm so much better than everyone else) that pays enough so I can enjoy what this area has to offer in addition to paying off some of my student related debts.  But...
    • Sometimes, I wish I had a job that didn't "matter"...honestly, the majority of mistakes that can happen in my job are not major or at least caught before a patient is treated.  But there is the potential of something major happening...and sometimes I really freak myself out with that.  Sometimes, I wish I could have a job where a major screw up doesn't mean potentially ending or ruining somebody's life...that'd be a nice safety net to have.
    • Soemtimes, I wish I lived closer to family and friends.  Sometimes I just feel like an outsider looking in on everybody else's goings on.  But I have no desire to go back to Anchorage (to live, I want to visit) and certainly not Buffalo.  I know, this one is an easy fix.  Everyone I give a damn about just needs to move out here.  Doesn't have to be San Francisco if that's not your scene...there's a little something for everyone out here.  There.  Problem solved.
    • Do I want a family of my own?  NO freaking clue! Most days Kenai is about all I can handle, but I'm kind of getting to the point where need to sh*t or get off the pot, so they say.  Am I a bad person if I don't want kids?

  • To end on a light note, I must admit there have been a few days recently where traffic hasn't been too awful.  Today, it only took me an hour to get home. Woot! Basically half the time! This basically summed up how I felt:
SUCK IT RUSH HOUR

And now I'm going to go revel in my glory and...go read book!  Boom! Yeah! Hardcore
